Zinédine Zidane has been confirmed as France head coach, ending a five-year wait and opening a new chapter 28 years after he led Les Bleus to the world title.
On taking the role, his first public words were aimed at firefighters and farmers battling a devastating blaze in Gironde and the Landes.

Speaking as a parent, he appealed for the return of Christophe Gleizes, a journalist imprisoned in Algeria, to his family.
