Zinédine Zidane thumps touchline ball as Michael Olise nets late winner | OneFootball

Zinédine Zidane thumped a spare ball by the touchline as he celebrated Michael Olise’s 88th-minute winner in France’s 1-0 victory over Belgium in Brussels.

On Monday at the Stade du Roi Baudouin, the new France head coach did not hide his delight as a much-changed side turned in a strong display. Olise, of Bayern Munich, embarked on a solo run before finishing past Senne Lammens.

The late strike set off jubilant scenes among team-mates and “Zizou” alike. Zidane had already risen from his seat as Olise wound up to shoot.

He then sprinted to a ball perched on a cone behind the touchline and lashed it away, the spare ball was placed there to speed up restarts.

“J'étais à fond avec lui en tout cas,” he said, speaking to TF1 with a smile.
