Polish defender Jan Ziolkowski spoke to the media following Roma’s 2-0 win over Stuttgart.
When asked about his substitution shortly after half-time, Ziolkowski said, “I would have liked to play the entire match, but football is a team game, and everyone has to take their place. Evan took my place; the team needed his experience. I did my best to help the team, even if I only played 10 minutes, 15, or 90 minutes.”
“I get along well with all my teammates. Ghilardi and I are the same age, so we get along very well, but I also get along well with those who are more experienced: Hermoso, Ndicka, Celik when he plays defense, Mancini. We always do our best; our job is to defend the team.”
“I’m working hard on the physical aspect with the trainers. I’ve improved a lot since they arrived. When I arrived, I thought I already knew all the tricks of the trade, but then I faced reality and humility, and with a lot of dedication, I’m trying to improve.”
“Now we have to think game by game. This competition is as important as the league, but making long-term predictions isn’t the way to get to the end of a competition. We’re in a good moment now, and we have to capitalize on it and extend it as much as possible.”
