Pedro Neto was deployed as a right back against PSG last night, and it’s fair to say that the stats show it didn’t go too well.

We don’t hate the idea of Pedro Neto at right back, we really don’t. He’s hard working, quick, disciplined. He has the ingredients to do a good job there.

But the stats from last night show that maybe, it’s not for him.

He had the most touches on the Chelsea team, showing how often our passive possession was shuffling the ball to him on the right.

And how did he do? Well, let’s put it this way. He completed 0 of his 6 crosses. He complete 0 of his 2 long balls. He won 3 of his 10 duels, and completed 3 of his 8 dribbles. He had 0 defensive contributions, as FotMob define them.

Neto thrown in at the deep end against top class opposition

To be fair to Neto, this was about as tough an assignment as one can get. PSG were just so much better than us, and the whole idea was rendered pretty pointless after 5 minutes when the away team scored again.

We’re not sure this idea will be repeated anytime soon, especially with Trevoh Chalobah now injured.

In other news…

Chelsea had some tough team decisions to make over the two legs, but Liam Rosenior without doubt bungled two of them.

Fabio Capello has pointed out that some of Rosenior’s behaviour on the touchline is not going to convince anyone he’s the man Chelsea need.
