Ally McCoist has tipped Joel Piroe for a move to Rangers, as the Leeds United striker’s future beyond this summer remains unclear.
"Joel Piroe would be a great signing for Rangers," he told talkSPORT.
"As a Rangers supporter, I wouldn't mind that at all. I think he could certainly do a job up here."
Piroe has fallen behind summer arrivals Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha in the No 9 pecking order. He has not started a Premier League game since August, has one FA Cup goal and three missed penalties.
Daniel Farke sought another striker in January, including a bid for then-Wolves frontman Jorgen Strand Larsen. With reinforcements set to be revisited this summer, staying up could further cut the Suriname international’s minutes.
49ers Enterprises are involved at both clubs, which operate separately but enjoy a close relationship.
Leeds spent £12m in 2023 on a four-year deal, leaving about £3m on the books. He has over a dozen Premier League outings, the 2024/25 Championship Golden Boot with 19 in 46, and a recent Suriname debut, making a fee above £3m likely.
