Chelsea winger Geovany Quenda won’t play for the club until next season, but is at Cobham now getting some adaptation done.
A rare midweek off for Chelsea has allowed the bulk of the first team to take a break, so it will be very quiet at Cobham. But there is one new face.
According to Nizaar Kinsella’s piece for the BBC, winger Geovany Quenda, who is joining the Blues in the summer, has been at the training ground to use the “world class” medical facilities to help him recover from his fractured metatarsal, and to “familiarise himself with his future club ahead of his summer move.”
It’s a smart move, and one we’ve seen before. Kendry Paez came to visit Stamford Bridge and also went to train with Strasbourg a year ago, with a view to preparing him for his summer loan there. However, as Kinsella points out, it’s not universal – Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev are injured future Blues who have stayed with their current teams.

The £40m deal to sign Quenda was agreed almost a year ago, and he was making good progress until picking up this injury in December. He’s expected to return to action with Sporting next month, meaning he could yet play in some crucial games both domestically and in Europe.
Chelsea fans were enjoying watching him playing in Portugal, and will be keen to see him back on the pitch.
Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez is topping the xG charts and playing some of the most effective attacking football of his whole career at the club. We can’t wait to see what he produces in the final third of the season.
Mamadou Sarr made a promising first start for Chelsea – but how many more will he get before the season is out?
