FLW takes a look at five players West Brom could look to sign on free transfers this summer
Preparations at West Bromwich Albion for next season will be well underway, as James Morrison looks to stamp his authority on the Baggies squad with some key additions.
It was far from an ideal season for West Brom, who finished just one place above the drop zone at the expense of Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City, and Oxford United.
Ryan Mason was tasked with leading the Baggies into the campaign in his first senior job as a head coach, and although his tenure produced some bright sparks, they weren't consistent enough, and he was dismissed and replaced by Eric Ramsay in January 2026.
Ramsay's spell went even worse, winning none of his nine games in charge, as former West Brom midfielder James Morrison was tasked with keeping the Black Country outfit afloat.
Morrison scraped survival with some excellent displays, shoring up the Baggies defence, and has since been rewarded with the top job permanently at The Hawthorns, and will be leading plans heading into the summer window and next season.
The Scot will be looking to stamp his authority on the West Brom squad, and with finances likely to be a bit tight, FLW has taken a look at five free signings Morrison should consider making to add to his Baggies roster this summer.

Solly March has spent his entire professional career with Brighton and Hove Albion, but at 31, he is finally set to depart the Amex Stadium this summer, and for the time in his footballing journey, will be on the lookout for a new permanent home.
TEAMtalk have previously linked the winger with a move to Premier League sides such as Newcastle United and Everton, but given his lack of minutes over the past few seasons, whether any top-flight club will be willing to take the risk on him remains to be seen,
Indeed, the Englishman has not played regular football since the 2022/23 campaign, in which he scored seven and assisted nine in 33 Premier League games for the Seagulls that year, with an array of injury problems keeping him out of action.
With Jed Wallace's exit confirmed from West Brom, there is a gap on the right flank to be filled, and March could be an excellent fit at The Hawthorns, as Morrison must consider this move a possibility.

Ross Stewart has turned down a new deal at Southampton this summer, allowing the Scot to leave on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at the end of the month.
His impending departure has caused widespread discourse among the Saints fanbase, with many disappointed at his decision to depart the club.
Stewart joined from Sunderland in the summer of 2023 for around £12 million, but has suffered constant injury struggles since his arrival, limiting the 29-year-old to just 50 appearances across all competitions in his three years at the club.
When fit and available, Stewart is among the very best strikers in the division, and he will almost certainly be in high demand heading into the summer window.
With Josh Maja and Karlan Grant are yet to sign new deals at the club, and with Daryl Dike set to leave, this leaves just Aune Heggebo as the Baggies' only senior option up top heading into next campaign, something which Morrison should be looking to address by signing his compatriot Stewart.

Another out-of-contract Brighton player who has struggled with injuries, Adam Webster's seven-year stay on the South Coast is set to come to an end at the end of the month following the expiry of his contract.
The 31-year-old centre-back joined Brighton in the summer of 2019 from Bristol City for around £20 million, and has gone on to make 158 appearances across all competitions during his time with the Seagulls.
However, after suffering a knee injury during pre-season in 2025, Webster did not feature for a single minute this campaign, and Brighton has made the tough decision to allow him to leave at the end of his deal.
When fit, Webster would be one of the best defenders in the Championship if he were to make the step-down, and West Brom could find a real coup with his addition.

West Brom's left-back situation is something that Morrison must address this summer, with Callum Styles the only recognised senior left-back in the Baggies ranks.
Styles featured heavily for West Brom last campaign, missing just one league game, and adding some competition and rotation in that area is imperative over the coming months.
Sheffield Wednesday's Max Lowe is due to be a free agent in the next couple of weeks, with his current deal at Hillsborough set to expire at the end of the month.
Lowe hasn't exactly had a season to remember in South Yorkshire, but with just shy of 150 Championship appearances and 18 Premier League appearances to his name, the 29-year-old ought to have his pick of the clubs this summer, and West Brom could do a lot worse than Lowe.

Max O'Leary has been offered a fresh deal to remain with West Brom following a successful second half of the campaign between the sticks at the Hawthorns, having joined from Bristol City in January.
Neither Joe Wildsmith nor Josh Griffiths could nail down a place in goal for the Baggies, and with Wildsmith set to leave at the end of the month and Griffiths linked with a move to Stoke City, another option between the sticks should be a priority for Morrison.
Vaclav Hladky is no spring chicken at 35 and has played as a backup option for the past couple of seasons with Burnley, but a dependable backup option may be exactly what the Baggies need should O'Leary continue his place as the first-choice option at the Hawthorns.
The Czechian featured prominently for Ipswich Town during the Tractor Boys' promotion to the top-flight in 2024, and he could be a good option to serve as deputy whilst challenging for a place in the side.
