AC Milan are targeting Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, according to Calciomercato.
Milan consider Gomez’s profile ideal due to his ability to play both centre-back and full-back, providing tactical flexibility across the back line.
Milan previously pushed hard to sign Gomez in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, but the move fell through because Liverpool could not secure a replacement in time.
However, that disappointment has not cooled Milan’s interest, and they now plan a fresh move to bring Gomez to the San Siro.
They will hope to capitalise on the player’s relatively limited minutes and his desire for a more prominent role, with one eye on England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Whether Liverpool will open to a sale mid-season is unclear, especially because Giovanni Leoni’s long-term injury has left them short of depth at centre-back.
Milan are in the hunt for league glory and are expected to be active in the ongoing transfer market. They signed Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham United on a six-month loan earlier this month.
With both Napoli and Inter in action before Milan face Genoa tomorrow, they could be third by kick-off, further increasing the importance of a victory.
