Another top performer at FC Bayern is moving into the focus of a top European club. Josip Stanišić has firmly established himself under Vincent Kompany. Now Real Madrid are said to be keeping a close eye on the defensive all-rounder.

After his return from Bayer Leverkusen, Josip Stanišić has quickly played his way back to the fore at FC Bayern. The 26-year-old is now a permanent fixture in coach Vincent Kompany’s rotation and has impressed with consistently solid performances in several defensive positions.

His flexibility in particular makes the Croatian international valuable. Whether on the right, left or in the center of defence – Stanišić delivers reliably. According to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, it is precisely this profile that is also in demand at Real Madrid, where they are looking to rebuild their defence.

The Whites are planning long-term for the time after Dani Carvajal and are looking at several options. According to the report, Stanišić was scouted intensively during appearances in the Champions League and Bundesliga. His „error-free“ style of play in particular is said to have been rated positively internally.

At FC Bayern, however, the stance is clear. The defender is regarded as a home-grown talent and a potential „leading player of the future“. A sale is currently out of the question, especially as his contract runs until 2029 and Munich are therefore in a comfortable position.

The fact that Stanišić enjoys a high status internally is also underlined by his coach’s statements. Vincent Kompany recently emphasized: „He not only plays well as a full-back, but also as a central defender. That has a lot to do with his playing intelligence.“

There is also high praise from those close to the Croatian national team: „He said that it was incredible for Croatia to have a full-back of this quality who can defend on the left and right,“ Kompany reported on a conversation with Ivica Olić.

In addition to his tactical versatility, Stanišić brings other qualities that are not always immediately apparent. „He’s actually really quick, but a lot of people don’t see that,“ explained the Bayern coach. Kompany describes his development as a steady process: „He’s developed well. You always want Bayern talent to be there straight away. Stani needed a bit of time, but now he’s there.“
