Charlton Athletic last won a major trophy in 1947
Charlton Athletic have clinched just one major honour in their entire history, in the form of the 1947 FA Cup.
The Addicks returned to the second-tier this season after achieving promotion from League One last term via the play-offs and haven’t wasted any time in settling down.
Charlton have looked competitive in all of their fixtures thus far, enjoying victories over the likes of Watford, Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.
Although this start has been promising, Charlton will need to go up an extra gear to stay with the leading pack and realise their dream of returning to the Premier League once more.
It has been almost two decades since the Addicks operated out of the top-flight and Nathan Jones will be desperate to be the man who takes them back to that level.

Promotion to the Premier League would be crucial for Charlton from a financial point of view, as it would allow them to invest heavily in their infrastructure and squad to make sure they remained at the level for years to come.
The Addicks’ last major honour came in 1947 when they clinched the FA Cup, a wait that has gone on much too long for anybody involved with the club.
With this in mind, Football League World have employed AI chatbot, ChatGPT, to predict when Charlton Athletic will pick up their next major trophy.
The AI first forecasted that the South East London outfit would secure promotion back to the Premier League in 2035, which will put them in a better position to fight for big trophies more regularly.
From there, the 2038/39 campaign is expected to bring forward EFL Cup glory for Charlton, ending what would be a 92-year wait for a major honour at the Valley.
ChatGPT provides examples such as Swansea City, Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and Leicester City, who all won the EFL Cup not long after gaining promotion from the Championship.

Although Charlton were once top-flight regulars, it has been almost two decades since they last operated out of that division, with supporters longing for those days once more.
The past few years have seen positive times come to the Valley once more, with Jones leading the Addicks to promotion from League One before starting their first season back in the Championship positively.
If slowly over time, they can build on this progress and eventually claim a place among English football’s elite 20 teams, then hope will begin to foster among the Addicks’ faithful that domestic success could be on the cards.
Clinching the EFL Cup would be a magnificent achievement for all those involved with Charlton and would act as the culmination of an unbelievable upward trajectory for the club over a 20-year period.
