Alphonso Davies has joined Canada’s camp and provided an update on his injury, confirming he is not yet ready to play.
AP reports that he ran laps before Canada’s 2-0 friendly win over Uzbekistan in Alberta on Monday, with his return still to come.
Davies said it felt good to be back on the pitch and with the squad, and that he will support the team whether he plays or not. He did not put a timeframe on his comeback.
With Canada opening their World Cup against Bosnia and Herzegovina on 12 June, he added that he will continue his rehab and take progress day by day.
Head coach Jesse Marsch emphasised there should be no rush, stating the focus is on rebuilding trust in Davies’s body and putting him in a position to succeed, with staff monitoring him every day.
