Alvaro Carreras has addressed rumours of a training-ground slap from Antonio Rüdiger, describing the matter as a minor, one-off incident that is already forgotten. He posted the message on Instagram on Tuesday night.
The left back spoke after speculation about a March session at Real Madrid, with Onda Cero reporting that the German reacted to Carreras’s behaviour and struck him in the face.
In his post, Carreras said he has a good relationship with the entire squad and has been fully committed to the club and coaching staff from the first day. He characterised the episode as unimportant.
The Spain international, capped nine times, has made 38 appearances in all competitions this season, his first since returning to his formative club, Real Madrid.
Ferland Mendy’s new long-term injury could return Carreras to the starting line-up. Mendy had been preferred for the last two league matches, Real Betis 1-1 on 24 April and Espanyol 2-0 on Sunday.
