Paris Saint-Germain are well-known admirers of Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal (18), and they have not given up on trying to sign the precocious talent, according to a report from Romain Molina.
PSG had Yamal on their radar even prior to his breakthrough at Barcelona, Molina understands. They, like a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, all failed to get their hands on the Spain international, who has since exploded onto the scene. Already a Euros winner with La Roja, he led La Blaugrana to the semi-finals of last season’s UEFA Champions League and came second in this year’s Ballon d’Or, losing out to PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé.
There is a feeling that Yamal is unattainable due to his long-term contract at Barcelona, which runs until 2031. However, that does not deter PSG, whose ambition, Molina understands, remains to sign the Barca forward.
“In Doha (PSG’s owner are Qatar Sports Investments), they say: ‘We want him’. In Doha, it has been decided that they want him, whatever it takes, one day,” said the French journalist. It would potentially take a world-record sum to prise Yamal away from his formative club.
