Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil’s head coach, and Rodrigo Caetano, the CBF’s national teams coordinator, were presented with Santos shirts during Tuesday’s match at Mirassol, in the Brasileirão at Estádio Maião.
The federation announced that Ancelotti will attend Botafogo v Flamengo on Saturday at Nilton Santos, and is not expected to be at Vila Belmiro for Santos v Corinthians on Sunday.
Santos executive Alexandre Mattos met the pair and handed over number 10 shirts customised with their names.
Ancelotti had hoped to watch Neymar in action. The game finished 2-2, with Gabriel Barbosa scoring both Santos goals, one a penalty he won himself.
After the match, Gabigol urged the Brazil coach to come to Vila Belmiro on Sunday for the Santos v Corinthians clássico, to watch the club’s number 10, who is expected to start.
Other Seleção staff are expected at the derby, including assistants Mino Fulco and Franchesco Mauri, performance analyst Bruno Baquete and goalkeeping coach Taffarel.
