"They should give Bidu a chance. He was heavily criticised when he arrived at Corinthians, but he is doing very well now at left-back, winning over the fans, winning trophies, earning his place and producing big performances. Without any doubt, Bidu could have a great opportunity with the Brazil shirt."

He was speaking to ESPN Brasil at a Kings League event. Santos earned his first Brazil call in 2009 while at Parque São Jorge, made 24 appearances and won the Confederations Cup that year.

Bidu has been one of Corinthians’ most consistent performers in 2026, with 13 appearances, one goal and one assist, and he is the club’s only outfield player beyond 1,000 minutes this season. In February, Dorival Júnior praised him and said he could be on the national-team radar.

"Right now we do not have the right player for the position. There is Guilherme Arana, Renan Lodi and others, but there is no starting number 6 for Brazil. I would welcome giving chances in these two friendlies to players who are standing out."

Carlo Ancelotti will name his next squad on Monday, 16, for friendlies against France and Croatia, the final list before the World Cup call. So far, only goalkeeper Hugo Souza has been called from Corinthians. The last squad featured Alex Sandro, Caio Henrique, who is injured, and Luciano Juba.

Bidu is set to face Coritiba on Wednesday at 21:30 at Neo Química Arena in the fifth round of the Brasileirão, then Santos on Sunday with the national-team staff watching.
