Andy King has confirmed Leicester City are pursuing Manchester City prospect Divine Mukasa as they seek midfield reinforcements before the deadline.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the clubs are understood to have agreed a loan, and the 18-year-old now has to decide whether to spend the second half of the season at the King Power Stadium.

The interim manager said Mukasa has been tracked closely by the recruitment team and is considered highly promising, adding that securing him would be welcome given the current shortage.

The England Under-19 international made his senior Man City debut in September and has six appearances under Pep Guardiola this season, providing two assists.

At youth level he has scored seven in 13 matches, including a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Youth League.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, he has also featured up front, on the right wing and in a deeper midfield role.

Leicester’s need is acute after a 2-0 loss to Charlton on Saturday, with Oliver Skipp, Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James all out injured and Hamza Choudhury withdrawn with a knee issue, while Boubakary Soumare was sold earlier this month.
