Anthony Gordon ‘to join’ Barcelona in €80m plus add-ons deal | OneFootball

According to The Athletic, Barcelona are said to have reached an agreement with Newcastle to sign Anthony Gordon for €80m plus add-ons, and to have agreed terms with the 25-year-old.

The move is said to be championed by Hansi Flick, the Barcelona head coach, and sporting director Deco, who admire Gordon's profile.

He is viewed as a replacement for Marcus Rashford's role this season, a wide forward offering pace, direct running and high pressing intensity.

The €30m purchase option on Rashford's loan from Manchester United, valid until 15 June, is not expected to be exercised because of his wages. Although Gordon's fee would be higher, Barcelona could spread the cost through a lower salary and a longer contract. Another Rashford loan is not excluded.

Gordon finished the season for Newcastle with 17 goals and 5 assists in 46 matches in all competitions, including 10 in 12 Champions League games. Both players are in Thomas Tuchel's squad for the 2026 World Cup.
