Antoine Griezmann becomes second most-capped Frenchman in Champions League, marks milestone with assist

Antoine Griezmann became the second Frenchman with the most Champions League appearances after starting Atlético de Madrid’s play-off first leg against Bruges on Wednesday, and he marked it with an assist.
L'Équipe reports that his start took him to 113 appearances, moving him past Thierry Henry on 112, having drawn level when he came on against Galatasaray in January, a 1-1 draw.
He is now behind only Karim Benzema, who leads the French list with 152 matches.
The 34-year-old provided the assist in first-half stoppage time, glancing a corner with his head before Ademola Lookman finished for Atlético’s second of the night.
It was Griezmann’s fourth Champions League goal involvement this season, one goal and three assists.
