Chelsea winger Christopher Nkunku (27) is set to leave Enzo Maresca’s Blues as early as this summer, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. The France international winger joined the Premier League side from RB Leipzig two years ago in a €60m deal, but the transfer looks to have benefited no one.
Nkunku currently plays a peripheral role in Maresca’s set-up in his sophomore season at Stamford Bridge, even if the former PSG Academy product currently leads Chelsea’s goal-scoring charts with 14 goals, like Cole Palmer. RMC Sport understands that Nkunku does not feel particularly at ease at Chelsea, where he feels his creative qualities could be better highlighted. The 27-year-old has practically never played in his preferred position – in the centre of the pitch. A point of no return has seemingly been reached between Chelsea and Nkunku.
As for his future destination, RMC Sport adds that Arsenal and Bayern Munich have previously enquired regarding Nkunku’s availability in the winter transfer window. Both clubs are expected to knock on Chelsea’s door this summer. Nkunku reportedly intends to join a club that regularly plays in the Champions League.
