Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has withdrawn from the Norway squad after suffering a knee injury against West Ham - but Declan Rice is reporting for England duty.
Odegaard clashed knees with Crysencio Summerville when tackling the West Ham winger early in the first half of Saturday’s game.
The midfielder tried to carry on playing - but he had to be taken off around the half-hour mark for Martin Zubimendi.
Odegaard has since been assessed by Arsenal’s medical staff and the club have confirmed that he has suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee.
The 26-year-old has, as a result, withdrawn from the Norway squad for their upcoming matches against Israel and New Zealand.
Arsenal have not given a date for when Odegaard could return to action.
A club statement on Sunday afternoon read: “Martin Odegaard has been withdrawn from the Norway national team for their upcoming matches against Israel and New Zealand after sustaining a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee during the first half in Saturday’s win over West Ham United.
“Martin will continue to be assessed and treated by our medical team at Sobha Realty Training Centre during the international window, with the aim of a return to action as soon as possible.”
Rice, however, will be reporting for England duty on Monday ahead of their games with Wales and Latvia.
The midfielder, who scored the opening goal in the 2-0 win over West Ham, was forced off before the end due to a back injury.
Rice will join up with the England squad, though, and will hope to feature in Thursday’s friendly against Wales and the World Cup qualifier with Latvia five days later.
