Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for a fee of £75m.
The midfielder is set to travel to North London to undergo a medical after a compromise was reached on the transfer fee. Guimaraes had informed Newcastle of his wish to explore a move to Arsenal and a 'full agreement' has now been reached.
The 28-year-old is set to become the latest high-profile name to leave St James' Park this summer, with the club captain set to follow Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and head coach Eddie Howe out the exit door.
Newcastle have reluctantly accepted Guimaraes' wish to leave, with the £75m fee lower than their initial demands for the Brazilian.
The Athletic are reporting that Guimaraes’ former club, Lyon, are entitled to 20 per cent of Newcastle’s profit on the midfielder. The French side will earn between £6-7m from the deal.
Guimaraes signed for Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022 and has been an integral part of the club's recent success.
He has twice helped the Magpies to Champions League qualification in his four-and-a-half year spell in the North East, and captained Newcastle to League Cup success in 2025. That triumph ended the club's 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy.
Arsenal have earmarked Guimaraes as an ideal addition to strengthen their squad, with the midfielder regarded among the Premier League's best in his position.
He was named Newcastle's Player of the Season in 2025/26 and ranked in the top 10 midfielders in thePremier League for goals (4th), goals and assists (6th), and offensive duels won (6th).
