Atalanta CEO says verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid for Lookman

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi said Ademola Lookman is close to joining Atletico Madrid, speaking minutes before Sunday’s Serie A match against Como.

Repubblica and Fabrizio Romano claim Atalanta will receive €40m from the sale, with Repubblica adding that Lookman will earn €7m per season at the Wanda Metropolitano.

“We are satisfied. We verbally agreed all the details with Atletico Madrid, now we move to formalising those passages,” he said. “It takes some time, but if everything goes the way it should, it will be completed very soon.”

Lookman was not called up for today’s game against Como.

The Nigeria forward scored 55 goals in 137 games for Atalanta, including a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final, which La Dea won 3-0 against Bayer Leverkusen.
