With his contract at FC Augsburg set to expire this summer, Elvis Rexhbecaj will be available on a free transfer.
According to Kicker, the 28-year-old central midfielder's former club VfL Wolfsburg are leading the race to sign him ahead of 1. FC Union Berlin, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen.

However, it remains unclear whether that would change if Wolfsburg were to be relegated from the Bundesliga.

Rexhbecaj spent 10 years at Wolfsburg before being sold to Augsburg in 2022 following loan spells at 1. FC Köln and VfL Bochum.
