Former Roma player, Federico Balzaretti, currently a scout within Florent Ghisolfi’s team, spoke to Idealista about his years in the capital.
“The best memories were born even before I arrived here. Let’s say that, in quotation marks, the choice of Roma was a choice born before, in the sense that, when I played against them, I already wanted to wear these colors, partly because when I came to the Olimpico, with the stadium full of fans, I personally found the atmosphere unique, like the club.”
“Then, over the years – in the last 13 years for eight I have played or worked as a manager – the bond has become even stronger. Now there is my little one who also plays in the Under 10 of Roma, so I must tell you that it is a totally Romanista family.”
“My fondest memories? I’ll tell you three games, both as a player and as an executive.”
“As a player I think of the derby won 2-0, the one with my goal for 1-0, it was an incredible emotion to have done something important for the team, for the people.”
“While as an executive there are two other games that I truly carry in my heart. One was the comeback against Barcelona, that 3-0 was something unique, more than exciting, unrepeatable. Manolas’ goal for 3-0 was thrilling.”
“While this year I have to say that the last-minute victory against Athletic Bilbao was another thing that I carry inside me, the stadium in that way, with that choreography and that energy, was of a beauty that only the people of Rome and only the Roma fan can generate.”
