Andreas Christensen is staring at an uncertain future at FC Barcelona heading into the new year. The Danish centre-back’s contract expires at the end of the season, and there has been no renewal offer thus far.
The 29-year-old defender has found minutes hard to come by this season, with Hansi Flick preferring the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, and even Gerard Martin in the centre-back role.
But Christensen has delivered more often than not when given an opportunity, most recently in the Copa del Rey clash vs Guadalajara, where he not only put up a solid defensive performance but also scored an important goal.
Now, according to reports relayed by SPORT, Christensen is attracting interest from the Premier League, where teams like Crystal Palace and Everton are keen on signing him for free in the summer.
The Danish international remains a reputed figure in the Premier League thanks to his stint at Chelsea, and Palace and Everton would be willing to take him back to English shores in the summer of 2026.
Moreover, teams from Saudi Arabia continue to hold an interest in the centre-back, who will be turning 30 years old in April.

Despite there being no shortage of suitors, Christensen wishes to continue at Barcelona and is doing everything possible to earn a contract renewal.
He made that much clear in an interview in November, when he said that he did not have a ‘Plan B’ at the moment and that he was fully focused on things under his control.
“The situation doesn’t create uncertainty for me. I think we’re in a good position and there’s nothing that can change my day-to-day life,” admitted Christensen.
“Of course, you want to have everything under control and know what’s going on, but it’s not something that affects us during the day, nor something we talk about.
“We have desires, we all do, but it’s not something I think about daily. I try to do what I can on the pitch and I hope that’s enough to keep me there.”
When asked about a possible contract renewal, Christensen was open but cautious, saying:
“I hope everything ends up like this. I don’t have a plan B, but I have no idea yet. I prefer to concentrate on being part of the team and playing as much as I can. Now I have to see what happens.”
