FC Barcelona have a tall mountain to climb in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid, which is scheduled to be played on March 3rd, as they fell to a 4-0 defeat in the first leg.
There is no doubt that it was a forgettable match for the Catalans in the first leg, and for most teams, it would almost be an impossibility to mount a comeback in such circumstances. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana dressing room still believes firmly in their chances of turning the situation around in the second leg.
The dressing room has several reasons for such optimism. For instance, they have won 12 matches by a margin of 4 or more goals since Hansi Flick’s arrival, and scoring 4 goals against Atletico would be enough for them to force extra time.
Similarly, key players like Raphinha, Pedri, and Marcus Rashford, who were all absent in this first leg, are all expected to be available for the second leg, which can prove to be differential for Barcelona. Furthermore, the fact that they will be playing at home, where they have won 14 out of 15 matches in all competitions this season.
The players also remember how their team turned things around against Paris Saint Germain in the UCL back in 2017, and all these factors provide enough reason for the Barcelona players to remain optimistic despite the scoreline from the first half.
