Copa del Rey: Barça furious after 4-0 thrashing by Atlético

Humiliated 4-0 by Atlético Madrid, FC Barcelona set to file complaint over refereeing!
FC Barcelona has gone on the offensive following their 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Atlético Madrid, fiercely contesting the officiating of Juan Martínez Munuera. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club is considering filing an official complaint with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), arguing that the refereeing distorted the outcome of the match.
Barça coach Hansi Flick did not mince his words, insisting that “a card should have been given to Giuliano Simeone in the opening minutes for a foul on Alessandro Balde,” before Pau Cubarsí’s goal was ruled out after nearly seven minutes of VAR deliberations.
Meanwhile, the Technical Committee of Referees acknowledged an error in the detection of digital ‘skeletons’ by VAR, forcing officials to manually draw the offside lines. This explanation was viewed as insufficient and confusing by Barcelona’s management, especially as the scoreline was already so one-sided.
Amid the controversy, the Blaugrana leadership have made it clear they will pursue the matter to the end. The upcoming second leg, set for March 3 in Barcelona, already promises to be played in an electrifying atmosphere.
