The 2025-26 season is almost concluded for FC Barcelona as they have a 9-point lead over Real Madrid in La Liga, while they have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

As a result, the Blaugranes can now turn some of their attentions to planning for the next season. In fact, it seems that the club is already taking some actions in this direction.

In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that a key meeting recently took place in Barcelona involving sporting director Deco and other important club figures, along with agent Pini Zahavi, who represents both Hansi Flick and Robert Lewandowski.

One of the main topics discussed was Hansi Flick’s situation. The German coach is currently not planning to enter contract negotiations immediately, as he prefers to decide his future on his own timeline rather than under external pressure.

As per the report from MD, club sources have made it clear that they respect this approach, stating that Flick will determine when the time is right to address his future.

At the same time, Barcelona already have a clear proposal in mind. The club wants to extend Flick’s current deal by one additional fixed year and include the possibility of another optional season.

The intention is to provide continuity and stability in the dugout, even though fully securing him for the entire duration of Joan Laporta’s mandate until 2031 is considered highly unlikely.

In addition, Lewandowski’s situation was also part of the conversation. With the striker approaching the final stages of his contract cycle, Barcelona are monitoring his future closely as they continue to assess potential changes in the attacking line for the coming seasons.

As things stand, Barcelona’s plan is to ensure continuity where possible while waiting for the coach to decide his next step on his own terms.
