Barcelona midfielder Gavi has revealed that he urged Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. to ‘shut up’ during a heated exchange on Sunday evening.

Barca and Real Madrid of course renewed their bitter rivalry 24 hours ago, locking horns in the season’s final edition of El Clásico at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The aforementioned Gavi and Vinícius both featured from the off in the matchup, en route to an eventual 2-0 Blaugrana triumph.

The latter was at one point involved in a back-and-forth with the home crowd, which saw Viní highlight his side’s 15 Champions League titles in a bid to insult the Barca faithful.

This culminated in an altercation with Gavi, not one to overlook disrespect of his beloved Blaugrana.

And as alluded to above, in the game’s aftermath, the young midfielder provided an insight into some of the details of his message to Vinícius.

Speaking to Movistar, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, Gavi explained:

“It’s football. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. I told him to shut up (when Vini referred to the 15 Champions Leagues). He’s a fantastic player. I’m very different off the pitch. He’s a fiery player, just like me.”
