Roony Bardghji has returned for FC Barcelona’s pre-season, but both the player and the club know that his future lies away from the Spotify Camp Nou, at least for the coming season.
The Swedish winger reported for pre-season training alongside the rest of the squad, but Hansi Flick has already informed him that he is not part of his plans for the 2026/27 campaign.
Barcelona’s summer signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi have only reinforced that message, adding further competition in the wide attacking positions.
The Catalans believe the best solution is for Bardghji to move elsewhere in search of regular playing time.
Barcelona had hoped Bardghji’s future would be settled before the preseason training camp begins, but the 20-year-old remains with the squad while waiting for a proposal that satisfies both him and the club, as reported by SPORT.

The club paid around €2.5 million to sign him from Copenhagen last summer but believes he has yet to make the breakthrough that many expected.
Last season he made 28 appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
Although much of the campaign was spent behind Lamine Yamal in the pecking order, Bardghji was also unable to establish himself when opportunities arose, with Flick often choosing Marcus Rashford instead during Lamine’s absence.
Bardghji has no shortage of admirers. Borussia Dortmund have expressed interest while negotiating Karim Adeyemi’s move to Barcelona.
The Bundesliga side view the winger as one possible replacement for the departing German, although the two deals are unrelated.

Elsewhere, newly-promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna have been linked with a loan move, though that option currently appears unlikely.
Interest has also emerged from clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and Ligue 1, with Bardghji believed to have a particularly strong reputation in England.
The main obstacle concerns the type of deal. Barcelona favour a permanent transfer that includes clauses allowing the club to retain some future control, such as a buy-back option, should Bardghji fulfil his potential.
The player, however, would prefer a loan move. He remains emotionally attached to Barcelona and does not want to permanently sever ties with the club he always dreamed of representing.
Despite those differing preferences, both sides agree on one key point: the winger needs regular football.
At just 20 years old, Bardghji understands that leaving Barça this summer offers the best opportunity to continue his development, even if his long-term future remains open.
Barcelona hope to resolve his situation before departing for their pre-season camp in England, although neither Flick nor the sporting department intend to pressure the player into making a decision.
