Barcelona may already have a success story on their hands following the arrival of Patricio Pacifico during the January transfer window.

The young defender was brought in to reinforce the youth setup after departures in that position, with Barcelona securing him on a short-term loan. 

However, the deal was structured with a long-term plan. 

Simply put, the club hold an option to make the move permanent, starting at around €1.8 million for 50% of his rights and rising to €2.8 million for 80%. 

Crucially, the clause could become mandatory if he features in 10 matches for at least 30 minutes each.

Settling in well

Now, according to AS, Pacifico has adapted quickly to life in Barcelona. 

The initial signs have been very positive, both on and off the pitch, with the player showing maturity beyond his age.

His performances have already caught attention, and as a result, he has been invited to train with Hansi Flick’s first team on multiple occasions. 

These sessions have given him a chance to integrate himself with the senior players, and reports suggest he looked comfortable and confident during his time with the senior squad.

From a sporting perspective, his versatility stands out. Naturally left-footed, he can operate as a centre-back or full-back, and has even been used as a defensive midfielder. 

It must be noted that Pacifico arrived with a clear ambition. 

While he understands that breaking into the first team will take time, his focus is on steady progress and making the most of every opportunity.

Ultimately, like every youth player, he aims to make it to the senior team, and thanks to the opportunities he has been getting in training, it may not be long before he is seen with the veterans of Hansi Flick.
