A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona was contacted by no fewer than seven clubs this past summer.
As much came amid widespread interest in a loan deal for his services.
The player in question? Marc Bernal.
Youngster Bernal is for his part of course in the thick of the final stages of his recovery from a serious knee injury.
Sidelined for the last 13 months after suffering a ruptured ACL, the 18-year-old is expected to be afforded his first call-up of the season this weekend.
As alluded to above, though, had things played out differently over the summer, Bernal could have been preparing for a debut appearance in altogether different colours.
As revealed by Mundo Deportivo:
‘Roma, Chelsea, Brighton, Everton, Valencia, Girona, and Betis all inquired about his situation.’
Barcelona opened the door to the player himself, in the case of Bernal wanting to depart for six months in search of regular game time.
The Spaniard, however, made clear that his only intention was to succeed in Blaugrana colours.
