Marcus Rashford’s start to life at Barcelona has been better than what many expected of him, especially given how things had gone for him last season in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old forward, however, has proved to have an elite goalscoring ability and has stepped up his game, especially in the UEFA Champions League, where he already has two braces in three appearances this season.

What he has done so far, while promising, is still insufficient to coerce Barcelona into making his move permanent, as relayed by AS, and Rashford must thus look to take a further step forward as the season progresses.

Almost there, but not yet

While Rashford has indeed shown an incredible ball-striking ability in his short time at Barcelona, there are clear avenues where he still has to tangibly improve, with the primary one being his decision-making and link-up play.

While the player has scored stunning goals from tight angles and long range, he is yet to establish himself as one who can thrive in tight spaces and link up with those around him to get into goalscoring positions – something that is crucial at Barcelona.

There is still time before the club has to make a final decision about Rashford’s future and whether or not they activate his purchase clause.

Given that Raphinha’s return from injury is just around the corner, however, the Manchester United loanee does not have long before he goes back to being a rotation option.

The Champions League has been his best hunting ground so far, and he will look to make another statement later tonight when Barcelona take on Club Brugge later tonight.

So far this season, Rashford has already contributed to eleven goals in just fourteen games, and his objective will be to improve those numbers and take another step towards convincing the manager later tonight.
