PSG can win another trophy after defeating Real Madrid 4-0, and they’ll now face Chelsea in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Moreover, Ousmane Dembélé has used this competition to bolster his candidacy for the Ballon d’Or. After missing out on the group stage, the Frenchman returned in the knockout stage and has recorded a goal against Bayern Munich and a goal and an assist in the win over Real Madrid.
If PSG add another trophy with Dembélé playing a major role, it could be what seals the winger’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or later this year.

After the Parisians defeated Real Madrid, manager Luis Enrique spoke to DAZN and backed Dembélé to win the Ballon d’Or this year. Dembélé’s main threat to win the award is Barcelona standout Lamine Yamal, but wth a treble and a Club World Cup trophy under his belt, the teenager could have a hard time beating out the PSG star.
“It’s the first match in this tournament that we can use [start] Ousmane and I think he has been our best player this season,” Enrique said (h/t BBC). “He deserves to win everything because he gives his all to the club and has done all season.”
Yamal had domestic success this season with Barcelona. However, with the UEFA Champions League and possible FIFA Club World Cup to his name, the voting could tilt in Dembélé’s favor if they defeat Chelsea this weekend.
