Bayern Munich reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Atalanta 4-1 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night. 

With that, they won the round-of-16 tie 10-2 on aggregate and set up a date with La Liga giants Real Madrid in the next round.

Harry Kane scored twice on the night, while Luis Diaz and Lennart Karl also added another to earn a fantastic win.

Having taken a comfortable lead in the first leg, Vincent Kompany made several changes to his side without compromising quality.

Aleksandar Pavlovic pounced on a loose ball and attempted to fire it into the net with his left foot, but Sportiello produced a strong save.

Bayern were awarded a penalty after Harry Kane’s fierce strike struck the arm of Giorgio Scalvini.

Kane’s initial effort was saved, but following a VAR review, the Englishman was ordered to retake the spot-kick and made no mistake the second time, giving his side the lead.

Towards the end of the first half, a big chance for Mario Pasalic, whose right-footed shot from the right side of the six-yard box is saved in the bottom right corner by Jonas Urbig.

In the second half, Raphael Guerreiro had a clear chance but failed to guide his effort past the Atalanta goalkeeper after good work from Stanisic.

Bayern did not have to wait long to double their lead, as Harry Kane found the net once again with a magnificent piece of skill.

Lennart Karl joined the party shortly after increasing the lead with a fantastic left-footed finish after Luis Diaz found him in the box.

It was then Karl’s turn to provide the pass to Luis Diaz, who finished with great composure as Bayern went 4-0 up.

Lazar Samardzic pulled one back for the visitors with a header from the right side of the six yard box to the bottom right corner.

Kim Min-jae missed a fantastic opportunity to make it 5-1, but the South Korean defender could not keep the shot on target.
