Kicker reports that Bayern Munich have closed a €7.5m deal to purchase SpVgg Unterhaching’s Sportpark Stadion. The Bundesliga outfit wishes to acquire the 15,000 seat venue to serve as the future home of the Bayern women’s team. The Münchener Merkur reports that the deal was sealed behind closed doors on Wednesday evening after the future of specific stands in the stadium were settled.

Haching currently play in the fourth tier Regionalliga Bayern after being relegated from the 3. Liga last year. The suburban Münchener famously once featured in the Bundesliga for two seasons at the turn of the century, but have not returned to the top flight since their 2000/01 relegation. Bayern have nevertheless always maintained professional ties to their suburban neighbors, investing in the club both financially and via player development accords.

Bayern’s women’s team currently play at the FC Bayern Campus on the Säbener Straße, but ground that only hosts 2,400 spectators was considered wholly insufficient to host the Women’s DFB Pokal and Champions League fixtures. The Bayern women do sometimes play at the Allianz, most recently drawing 15,000 plus spectators for a women’s Champions League match against Arsenal in mid-November.
