Bayern Munich are monitoring Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey ahead of the summer transfer window, The Independent reports.

The 24-year-old has impressed in his first Premier League campaign after joining from Ajax last summer. He arrived for around £17 million, potentially rising to £21.5 million with add-ons.

While he has six goals in 25 appearances, it is his physical presence, movement and capacity to lead the line that have drawn attention from elite European clubs.

The Netherlands international was part of his country’s Euro 2024 squad and could be in contention for the World Cup squad, which could further increase his value in the coming months.

Brobbey’s arrival formed part of Sunderland’s data-driven recruitment that has been credited with their progress since returning to the top flight. Any potential fee would likely exceed what Sunderland paid 12 months ago, though there is no indication the club are willing to sell as they push for a strong finish and plan a key summer window.
