Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach go head-to-head in the Bundesliga on Friday night.
The league leaders will be looking to extend their commanding lead at the top. At the same time, the visitors aim to pull themselves further away from the relegation zone.
Bayern Munich will be without their star striker Harry Kane, who has been ruled out with a calf injury.
Manager Vincent Kompany confirmed on Thursday that the England captain sustained a knock to his calf and hasn’t recovered in time for Friday’s clash. “He got a knock on his calf and hasn’t recovered yet,” Kompany stated. “It’s nothing serious for the time being but we’d need maybe another day for him to be involved”.
Nicolas Jackson is expected to deputise in Kane’s absence. Jamal Musiala and Luis Díaz are both available and will be crucial to Bayern’s attacking threat.
Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito remain out, and it will take another one or two weeks before they return to the pitch.
Yannik Engelhardt will miss the match after receiving a booking in the clash with Union Berlin, meaning Rocco Reitz and Kevin Stoger are expected to pair up in central midfield.
In attack, Franck Honorat, Haris Tabaković and Wael Mohya should start, with forwards Robin Hack (adductor problem) and Tim Kleindienst (knee issue) both unavailable for selection.
Kota Takai is also out due to a strain, while Nathan Ngoumou continues his recovery from a tendon injury and is anticipated to return towards the end of March.
Bayern Munich are in sensational form, sitting comfortably at the top of the Bundesliga with 63 points from 24 matches.
The Bavarians have won their last four Bundesliga matches consecutively, including a dramatic 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on February 28. They also defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 at home and Werder Bremen 3-0 away during this run.
Borussia Monchengladbach have endured a difficult season, sitting 12th in the Bundesliga table with 25 points from 24 matches.
The Foals have won six, drawn seven and lost 11 games, scoring 27 goals and conceding 39. Their recent form has not been particularly good as they won only one match out of their last eight Bundesliga matches.
Bayern Munich: Urbig; Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Musiala, Diaz; Jackson.
Borussia Monchengladbach: Nicolas; Sander, Elvedi, Diks; Scally, Reitz, Stoger, Ullrich; Honorat, Tabakovic, Mohya.
UK fans can watch the game free-to-air on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the Bundesliga App.
