FC Bayern know their schedule for the knockout phase of the Champions League. After the draw, it is clear that Atalanta Bergamo await them in the round of 16 – and UEFA have now also announced the exact dates
The first leg will be played in Bergamo on 10 March at 9 p.m. A week later, on 18 March, the tie will be decided in Munich’s Allianz Arena. As second in the league table, the record champions go into the last 16 as the seeded team and therefore enjoy a decisive advantage: Bayern would play all of the second legs in their own stadium until a possible final
This home bonus is a factor that should not be underestimated, especially in the top flight. The Allianz Arena has repeatedly been the scene of big European nights in recent years – and is set to become a fortress this time too
But one thing is already clear: the road to Budapest will not be an easy one. Should Vincent Kompany’s team prevail against Atalanta, a real cracker awaits in the quarter-finals, where FC Bayern would face Real Madrid or Manchester City – two heavyweights of European soccer
The task would hardly be any easier in the semi-finals either. With Liverpool FC or Paris Saint-Germain, other top clubs could be waiting for Munich. The tournament tree is set – and promises high tension on the way to the final
The quarter-finals are scheduled for April 7/8 and 14/15, with the semi-finals taking place on April 28/29 and May 5/6. The grand final of the Champions League will be held in Budapest on May 30, 2026
For FC Bayern, the mission is clear: first Bergamo, then possibly the biggest names in Europe.
