Benfica are counting down to updates from Rui Costa after Daniel Banjaqui reached a key milestone, turning 18 on Tuesday, 24 March.
Called into Portugal under-21s, the right-back should sign a new deal until the summer of 2031, including a multi-million euro release clause similar to Anísio Cabral, Record writes.
Despite being with the national squad at Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, the renewal could even be made official today.
A standout in Portugal’s Under-17 World Cup triumph, Banjaqui would become the second Seixal prospect, alongside Anísio Cabral, to secure a fresh contract. José Neto is expected to be next.
This season for Benfica, Banjaqui, valued at 5 million euros, has played 27 official matches, 14 in Liga Portugal Meu Super, seven in the UEFA Youth League, three in Liga Revelação, two in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,837 minutes, the right-back has one goal and five assists.
