Benfica ‘to sell’ Tiago Gouveia and Gustavo Varela for under six million euros | OneFootball

Benfica are close to finalising the exits of Tiago Gouveia to Atlas and Gustavo Varela to Monza, with the two deals set to bring in around five and a half million euros at first, with further add-ons possible.

A Bola reports that Tiago Gouveia is poised to join Atlas in a transfer valued at three million euros. Benfica would retain 50 per cent of his economic rights, and there is an option for the Mexican club to buy a further 40 per cent for an additional four million euros. That would take the total to seven million euros.

Gustavo Varela is very close to joining Monza in a deal worth two and a half million euros. Benfica have secured 20 per cent of any future profit on a subsequent sale, plus a buy-back clause, with its value not disclosed.

Despite his likely departure, Gouveia appeared as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 loss to St. Gallen in the first leg of the Europa League second qualifying round in Switzerland.

In the best-case scenario, Benfica could collect nine and a half million euros across the two transfers, involving players not in Marco Silva’s plans for the new season. It remains to be seen if the winger will be named in the squad for Thursday’s second leg at Estádio da Luz, or if the move to Mexico will halt any further involvement.
