Teenagers Anísio Cabral and Daniel Banjaqui made their Benfica first-team bows in the 4-0 win over Estrela da Amadora, drawing praise from youth coach Pedro Faria.
"We are all very proud. I have a special affection for what is happening," Pedro Faria told Agência Lusa. "It is a big mix of emotions and I watch their growth with pride."
Right back Daniel Banjaqui, 17, started in Liga Betclic and played 90 minutes. Anísio Cabral, 17, came on at 83 minutes and, with his first touch, headed in from Banjaqui's cross for the final goal.
Linked to Benfica since 2006, Faria worked with the pair in the U15 national title in 2022/23 and the U17 crown in 2024/25. Both are U17 European and world champions with Portugal. "It is the most talented generation I have worked with," he said.
"I believe José Mourinho's staff, like those before, are ready to open the doors to youngsters," he added. "It is usually a slow process, done little by little, and we must help them be as prepared as possible."
