Al-Hilal’s board have opened talks with Benzema to clarify his future ahead of the new Roshn Saudi Pro League season, according to Goal.com.

The striker wants guarantees over a first-team role and has no intention of staying if he is set for the bench or phased out of the coaching staff’s plans.

One option mooted has been to register him only for the AFC Champions League Elite, leaving him out of the domestic squad, a scenario he rejects.

The club are scanning the striker market and studying a move for a new centre-forward, which could prove decisive for his future in the coming weeks.

Benzema joined Al-Hilal last January but struggled to deliver, particularly in the big matches. Even with him involved, the club failed to win the Roshn Pro League and the AFC Champions League Elite titles.
