The Rao Family have owned the Championship side since November 2010, and have overseen a difficult 15 years at Ewood Park.

The club have fallen from the Premier League to the Championship, even spending a year in League One during their time in charge.

The Lancashire outfit’s best finish since their 2012 relegation from the top flight was a couple of seventh place results in 2023 and 2025, meaning they have never even reached the play-offs under the current ownership.

This season has also seen two separate games at Ewood Park abandoned under the strain of heavy rain, adding to supporter frustration regarding the running of the second division side.

The Blackburn Supporter Coalition, a coming together of various supporters groups, have released a statement urging the Rao Family to sell their stake in the Championship side, citing the difficulty of the last 15 years on the club.

They have called for a boycott of home matches, suggesting their aim is to ensure no money is put into the second division side while Venky’s remains in charge.

“We want a club we can recognise,” wrote the Supporters Coalition, via X.

“A club we can feel connected to.

“A club built on the value that once defined Blackburn Rovers skill, hard work, honesty and pride.

“At present, the club feels built on lies, excuses, and distance from its supporters.

“Ownership of a football club carries responsibility.

“Owners are custodians of heritage, not merely shareholders.

“That responsibility includes listening, communicating and treating supporters with respect.”

Supporters have responded to the statement, with many backing the decision to boycott games until a sale is agreed.

The example of Sheffield Wednesday has also been cited, with the Owls now set for new owners after going into administration in October.

Owls supporters also boycotted games under their previous owner Dejphon Chansiri, and many Blackburn fans are now getting behind the same idea for Ewood Park.

Many are hoping that Venky’s will get the message and sell, with a breaking point being reached this season amid the team’s poor form under Valerien Ismael.

However, not every fan is behind the idea of a boycott, especially with the side potentially facing a relegation battle.

Blackburn are 20th in the Championship table ahead of their upcoming clash with Millwall on 20 December.

Venky’s ownership has never been popular at Blackburn

It’s no surprise that Blackburn supporters have reached this point with their club’s owners as it’s been a tumultuous 15 years.

The team’s form on the pitch, along with the problems at Ewood Park, have combined for a miserable last few months.

While the club have been close to the play-offs recently, a lack of vision and direction has set in and their decline under Ismael has only highlighted that even further.
