Manchester City have reportedly offered a new contract to Rodri, who has sparked an interest from Real Madrid

The 29-year-old’s future in Manchester has been a hot topic of debate following his recent comments that strongly hinted his preference to join the La Liga club.

Rodri said that being a former Atletico Madrid player doesn’t stop him from joining Madrid.

The midfielder’s contract at City will expire in June 2027, but the Premier League giants have offered him a new deal, per Fabrizio Romano.

The decision now rests with the player and his family.

If the Spaniard rejects the offer, City are expected to demand a huge fee for a transfer in the summer or let him leave on a free in 2027.

Rodri is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He is highly rated for his intelligence, composure and passing.

He joined City in 2019 for a fee worth £62.6 million, and has made 293 appearances across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and creating 32 assists.

His contributions have helped the Citizens win four Premier League titles and a Champions League.

However, Rodri suffered an ACL injury in September 2024 and he hasn’t been the same since.

The midfielder has made only 14 Premier League starts this season after he picked up a hamstring issue in October.

Despite his recent injury record, City are ready to give him a new contract. But it remains to be seen if he accepts their offer.
