VfL Bochum managing director Ilja Kaenzig says the club would welcome Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka back in the future.

"Leon made many people in Bochum proud. He will now play at the highest level once more before hopefully returning." He was speaking to Bild.

"That is our great wish, and hopefully his as well. Once the Ruhrstadion is fully renovated, that would be a good time."

"We'll see how long his next contract runs; after that, he might sign his last one at Castroper Straße."

A move abroad appears more likely in the short term, though Bochum supporters will still hope for a homecoming.

Goretzka made 36 appearances for Bochum in 2012-13, contributing four goals and eight assists.
