Bontempo ruled out for Santos against Internacional | OneFootball

Santos will be without Bontempo against Internacional on Wednesday 18 March at 21:30 at Vila Belmiro, in the seventh round of the Brasileirão.

Diario Do Peixe reports that although he trained, he was not 100 percent. He was initially named in a 24-man squad as cover, then undertook a fitness test at CT Rei Pelé this afternoon and will be rested.

Bontempo started the derby with Corinthians in the last round but went off after 21 minutes of the second half with a lumbar contracture.

He is improving but still restricted in some movements and will continue his recovery with a view to the next match. After that, in the next round, Santos face Cruzeiro on Sunday 22 March at 16:00 at Mineirão.

Earlier this year he missed the start of the season following a septoplasty, then a muscle oedema, but reclaimed a starting place on his return.

This season he has one goal and one assist in nine appearances. His contract runs to the end of 2027. Across the first team he has four goals in 49 games after promotion from the Copinha and a Paulistão debut last year.
