Former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Junior has amassed a significant fortune over the duration of his career, with multi-million sponsorship deals already on the table before he became an adult. The Brazil international could be set to become one of the richest footballers to have lived though.
That is following a surprise testament and will. According to Diario AS amongst others, a Brazilian multimillionaire has made Neymar the only heir to his significant fortune. The identity of the oligarch is as of yet unidentified, but the news has been confirmed by RIC, who say that a final testament has been signed and verified by two witnesses.
The fortune in question is worth a remarkable €726.4m, which Neymar is in line to inherit, should his mysterious benefactor pass away. That would more than double his own net worth, which GMS estimate at €300m, and grant him entry into the billionaires club. Clearly, some rather unfortunate events have to take place first.

The motives behind the decision have surprisingly been revealed. The still nameless businessman aged 31, single and without children, noted to RIC that he realised that he has no-one to leave his fortune to, and has been in ill health of late. The reason Neymar has been selected to inherit their fortune is that the benefactor ‘identifies’ with them on a personal level, as a result of having also suffered ‘slander’ and also being a family man, in spite of his lack of an heir. The will is subject to approval by the courts, but has been signed.,
For Neymar, his focus will be on what will likely be his last chance to play a World Cup. Carlo Ancelotti has left him out of his second squad, despite being fully fit. The 33-year-old has less than a year to prove that he can be of use to the Italian next summer, with his last appearance coming in 2023.
