We’re all trying to distract ourselves form last night’s Chelsea defeat to Atalanta in the Champions League, and what better way is there to do that than to indulge in some Wednesday morning transfer rumours.

Chelsea are focused on buying the best young talents in the world, and today Fabrizio Romano has just dropped confirmation that a 16 year old superstar is on his way to Stamford Bridge – or at least to somewhere in the BlueCo structure.

We reported just last week on the interest in Mohamed Zongo, and those in charge have moved quickly to seal the deal since then. Romano says that a “deal has been done” with Sporting Cascade, Zongo’s club in his native Burkina Faso, to bring the attacking midfielder to Europe.

He will sign for Strasbourg, as we predicted, for his first steps in senior football on the continent, with the Blues ready to sign him up in the long term if all goes well.

The teenager had a breakout showing at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar this summer, and had numerous teams interested in him. It’s good that we’ve got ahead of the chasing pack, and the attacking midfielder will hopefully continue to develop his awesome potential.

He will still be many years away from ever playing for Chelsea even if all goes well – but it’s nice to have something to look forward to. Over to you, Strasbourg…

In other news…

Gianfranco Zola has been speaking about Enzo Maresca, and he’s more positive about the coach than some fans might be at the moment.

Chelsea’s social media silence over one player this week was very notable – it doesn’t look like things are getting sorted out in this case anytime soon.
