Jordan Henderson, absent for Tuesday’s 2-0 win on the south coast, has trained fully this week.
The midfielder came through the Aston Villa game well and there are no concerns about his fitness.
Vitaly Janelt has rejoined team training. He will continue to train over the coming weeks until he is available for selection.
Gustavo Nunes is progressing well. The forward is back on the grass but not yet ready to train with the squad.
Paris Maghoma completed a positive week of training with the squad. The midfielder still has to build his fitness having missed pre-season training.
Yoane Wissa will not be part of the squad on Saturday.
"Nothing has changed in terms of my stance," said head coach Keith Andrews when asked about the forward in his pre-match press conference.
"There has been no movement. No [he will not feature against Sunderland], I’ll focus on the group that’s settled and doesn’t have issues ongoing."

Andrews added: "I’ve spoken a lot about the level of respect I have for Yoane, and what we say to each other will remain between us.
"He’s training. The football club wants to hold on to Yoane. The player he is, the person he is, I certainly don’t want to lose him."
